Victoria is a very busy port of call for cruise ships come and going to Alaska. These ships are required to make a foreign port of call before landing in Alaska, so many cruiselines have made Victoria their port for a stop over.
Dragon boat racing is very popular here. This weekend was the Gorge Dragon Boat Race with 49 teams competing. Each team can consist of up to 20 paddlers, 1 oarsman and 1 drummer. Team work is very important sice everyone must paddle at the same time. Next week is the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival held in the Inner Harbour.

Just some shots of my city inner harbour. This area is very busy during the summer season with many tourists and locals who just like to wander around. There are lots of street entertainments and artists selling their crafts. I didn't have my tripod with me so the night pictures are the best I could do by holding my camera.
The Abraham Lincoln came into our city on a visit last weekend on their return from the Gulf.
This was the second aircraft carrier to visit us this year. The ship had to anchor off because it was to big to dock. They didn't have their air wing on board so there were only 3,000
crew members enjoying shoreleave in our city. Since we are close to their home port, many families made the trip here and than sail back with the ship home.
